Scribe of Lincoln
Once you dig your way past the various stuffed animals and stickers, this doesn't look bad, Pop some Rostyles back on and you've got a reasonable Cav in marvellous brown. On your doorstep Cavtastic...... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Vauxhall-Cavalier-Mk1-1979-Vredg-/251650805652?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a978e8f94
tony g
Wow that looks nice. If the chassis and usual rot areas looked as good as the rest I'd be having that. Brown is back in fashion too Tony
MANTAMAN
yes this looks like a good Cavalier, the wheels not only being non-original dont actually fit, they have a greater offset which on full front suspension compression makes the wheel touch the damper, this Cavalier would look really good with a set of silver ATS alloys, just right to lift the dark colour. Rapierdave
Sold for a bargain £1000 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Vauxhall-Cavalier-Mk1-1979-Vredg-/251658650404? Bought by a dealer who now wants £4,495 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1979-VAUXHALL-CAVALIER-2-0-GL-BROWN-108-000-ORIGINAL-MILES-MOT-04-15-PX-SWAP-/281464527956?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item418897dc54
outsider
F me, sometimes this really pees you off, no one minds someone making a bit on a bargain car they have won, but this is bad, christ at least take the fwd wheels off it (sri mk11) and put a good set on it, 108k as well, The same is happening with my other car choice, I have a vx220, a few have sold lately on the forum, just to appear a week later for 3k more, im in the wrong trade clearly
spiney_norman
Yep, don't mind dealers making a profit but that's a massive piss take. Wonder if he'd give me £500 for my spare set of ATS Classics to get it more original?
Julian
Does anyone really think that he will get anywhere near that price for it though, I doubt it, it has been through ebay, and the majority of people lookin for that type of vehicle will normally scan ebay, and have very likely seen it listed, not many went for it though. I do agree that it is on the optimistic side when it comes to price. But for people wanting to get into their first classic then buying from a reputable dealer makes sense. He has suggested making an offer. Who knows what he would take if you went cash in hand. There are lots of benefits to buying from a dealer that you do not get buying privately. But good luck to him. We all had the same chance buying it as he did when it was on ebay the first time. So we cannot really complain to much.

Business is to make money, and he is in the buying and selling cars/vehicles. Last year I bought a pair of old semiphore indicators, 1940s era big heavy metal ones, in a boot sale, 2quid, cleaned them up put new bulbs in them, got them working, put them on ebay, you may have seen them, started them off at £4.99, I nearly collapsed, I had just over £300 for them, there were two bidding, and the guy who bought them wanted them for a Mki Landrover. He had spent months looking for a working pair, so he said. I 've never been able to find any more of them!!!!!
Rapierdave
Well done Julian that was a lucky find, i too hope that the dealer who bought the Cav for £1000 makes a decent profit. I thought about buying it myself putting a set of rostyles on & advertising it for £1950. £4495 is a joke though, even a decent Cav coupe wouldn't be worth that, is this another case of a classic car dealer who has not researched MK 1 Cav values
plumster
Wonder if that rosette on the dash board is hiding a split in the speaker grill.
