Quick update, nothing still in the body shop, have not seen it for some time

I think that's pretty standard of bodyshops mate. I dont understand how they make money - 100% convinced the whole business model is based around deposits 😬

Just a quick update,nothing done,

With the unrest, damage to police vehicles may get pushed back again

Might go and get and paint it myself, see how it goes

That is the issue with any bodyshop mate. Unless you turn up with a bat in hand 🫣

This is pretty common with mates rates and a busy workshop.

The “sometime, when you get a chance” project needs to arrive when it’s a bit slack.

If not and with good paid work coming in and probably doing some overtime as well it’ll take a huge shove to get it going because once it’s sat for over a week it becomes part of the furniture and the felt pressure to get on with it becomes less difficult to ignore as time goes on.
It’s just human nature, not that your mate is lazy.

Told me 3 months initially, it certainly wasn't a when you get chance job, car was stripped within days but that's when it ground to a halt. Spent 3 days on it myself to move it along, first took it back to bare metal with a little assistance from the young lad he employs and then a day rubbing the filler down etc. It's actually starting to look decent but it has taken some serious chasing and mithering. Trouble was nobody else round here even wanted the job, 'we don't do classics the owners expect too much' one place said 🙄 this chap was recommended by the local classic car club and when he actually finishes work off it looks great, he did a chevy impla in black and it looked amazing.

I had a couple of places say no to any classic work too.
Proper restore specialists seem to be all or nothing i.e. £15k min but likely to rise.

Had problems last winter finding anyone who would do a bit of trickier reconstruction of the drivers footwell as the guy I’ve had do some work in the past had retired.

He's charging 3 grand which sounds cheap these days but I have done a large amount of the prep, really hard to find anyone skilled with fabrication too, other chap I know had a stroke and had work piled up, even though he's recovered he has 3 years backlog already!

On the phone today to my mate about getting the manta in the body shop to get it painted

Was told it’s going In Monday to get started,

Getting the roof,bonnet,front panel,and a wing done

Paying £600 all in so can’t really complain ( been there since May)

Hopefully back by a week Friday

usually no change from £200 per panel, and that would NOT be a roof!

So agreed, its a good price indeed. and TBH, you not had to wait *that* long in terms of Bodyshop time 🤣

Out for a ride on the Fazer,  Went to the body shop,

They are getting a bin lorry in on Monday so helped move some cars around,The manta has not been started for 4 months, put a jump pack on started after about 4/5 cracks of the key ( which l am happy with)

THE MANTA IS INSIDE THE BODY SHOP,will be getting started on Monday.

one of the cars we had to move has been there for 4 years.

Has got a 1960s Rolls-Royce in for minor repairs, plus a lot of police cars

looks fine in pictures and well worth the money.

if you can get the sides polished up to match the bonnet and roof that would be fantastic.  as mentioned  hard to get a good job these days for that sort of money .well done
