top work, what is the 2 door jap motor, you have taken the floor pan from?

Top work, im sure they are some on here have scrapped cars in better condition, (Shame too you all)

Gives a new vision on what can be done with these cars. Great work,

any pics of underneath, and do the chassis rails meet up where they should be?

It was a 200sx the older one with flip up light.

It started as sarcasm when i threatened to cut the other halfs skyline floorpan out and from there we started to think perhaps wasn't so daft an idea and looked at what other 3dr rear wheel coupes there were. A friend was scrapping this so went and measured it up and was right size. Think it cost £100 for the car with no engine gearbox etc, plus using lots of other bits to replace panels. Have to say couldn't believe how well it fitted was perfect.

We have still got to turn it back over and weld the bottom and take pics. We will probably use the chassis rails from the 200 and hopefully all will match up where it should go.

WoW! :D

Are you going to replace the Nissan tunnel with the Manta one? The gearbox mounts will need to be spot on.

I would recommend 'weld through primer' for all the internal welding bits.

Brilliant project :D

No going stay as is, the front tunnel fits spot on and the rear is slightly bigger. Also gives potential for the future to do a very nice engine and gear box conversion :D:D Particularly seeings i also have the rear running gear from the 200 still ;)

Time for the next update.

We are really getting solid now thinking another couple of days work and the welding will be done :-D

Both outer sills, inner sills and arches are now in, jenolited and primed with anti rust paint. The footwells have been shaped and finished, with just the tunnel and floor to weld when we turn her over again.

The rear of the floorpan has been joined internally with just the welding underneath to be done. The front wheelarches have been rebuilt and finished.

The pics i think will say it all.

Thanks guys,

Just thought would put a post us to let you know she hasn't become another unfinished project just have been so busy with work that not had time to do much at all to her recently. Hopefully will be able to finish all the welding and bodywork mods very soon. Then once we have sold a couple of our other toys she'll be coming back to our house to get the bodywork ready to paint.

And madness does run in our family lol

She will definately be finished no doubt about it, it's just a case of when lol.

Also still got to decide what colour I am going to do it so could take some time

Suzy

I think you should give this project to Practical Classics as a write up resto, very impressed!

About time they featured an article on a manta restoration.
