GTEPETE
It is interesting as is a 2.3, most for sale are 2.0.....yes, very pricey...I remember seeing complete 400 engine for sale ( was fitted in a Peugeot 205 and 309 , I think) many years ago for £5000..., being rare, it was probably worth it... ®evo03
Thats interesting, knew of a home built 205 / 400 rally car, engine was mid mounted i think! Wonder if the race car became rally, or rally became race car, looks like the racecar here was badly damaged early 90s. Think the rally car was that era too! Not so long ago it was costing 5k 6k 7k to throw a rally xe built engine into a mk2. Engine here is 2.1 bore, 2.3 crank, ....interesting. mantasrme
My mate has an all singing/all dancing 2.3 going in his mk2 escort rally car. That uses a Vauxhall Signam 2.2 XE block as it has a taller deck height so you can run a longer stroke crank.

®evo03
When you look at the alternative 300bhp! https://www.vividracing.com/racing-liter-300-complete-engine-honda-s2000-0009-p-149310.html
Jessopia74
These engines are a class specific lump, so you should be looking at them as race engines not road car lumps. Easy 300 bhp lump with bolt pattern same as XE .😎 Around 1K with very easy T5 management. And for that you get a pretty trick management system too. Might be SAAB, but it's a GM first 🤣
