Diff/crownwheel and pinion required, 19S compatible Manta B/Cavalier Mk.1

Hi, am emerging from the pit of oblivion with a plea for help.

I need the crownwheel and pinion assembly for a 19S car, ratio 3.67:1.

Been dead unlucky,  Road axle on car found to have the pinion shot, spare axle has both crownwheel and pinion shot!  As we all know, this is incredibly rare, what happens in 99 cases out of 100 is that it's the pinion bearings that go on these cars.

OK, so I'm the 100th case twice over.  Can anyone help with an axle they no longer need?  I just need the crownwheel and pinion in decent nick suitable for re-use, or could take the whole diff if someone torches it off through the shaft tube once they've removed the halfshafts.  Whole axle is of course very heavy and unwieldy, would cost a fortune to ship around the country strapped to a pallet.

Will pay carriage unless part is within about 40 mile radius of Chester.

Please?

BJ

I am sure I have one. I am down at unit Tom, and over weekend. I definitely took one out of an axle, but will need to check it's right ratio for you. Will post back as soon as I find it.

I had a look but the axle I have here that I thought was suitable turned out to be full of an LSD with a weird 4.22:1 ratio.

I've had it sat in my garage for 25 or so years and only kept it because it had no rust in the spring cups and it came from an 1800 I broke because the car was crashed.

So bonus on the LSD, not so much the ratio though.

The 4.22 diff is a motorsport option if I remember correctly.  That's at least £1k worth of axle if it's a ZF LSD.

Nice to know, It's no use to me unless I can swap it to a more useable ratio.

I wouldn't have found it if I wasn't trying to help to OP out !

Is the LSD plated? Then its a zf more than likely,

So surprised a supplied hasnt remanufactured these, as there is probably more of a market now, with more power available, and with em being more a drivers car, maybe the club needs to look into it, might be a big seller!
