Anyone recognise it?
Rick-Manta
Only from being tagged in a Facebook post about it a while ago. Since then, he's still not fitted the alloy radiator he mentioned or sourced a replacement skirt. Are red top conversions still a big thing, or has preservation of originality overtaken the trend yet? (and I have respect for both individual choices)
TheRealExile
Seems to still be a thing, individual choice, I'd keep it original but I do get the temptation of the red top.
®evo03
Redtops, takes you to try it 😉 Original injection is possible, fuel economy and all that, in standard, more powerful than most CIH. Go crazy, wonder how much you can go crazy, seen a 850bhp c20let. Some say, it's the manta, Opel should have finished with? Some say it destroys the character? Weirdly, I can say I've never driving a manta yet that feels exactly like another? and I can't say why or explain it 🤔

I'm guessing you would use an Astra GTE head & injection on the original block for a period upgrade or are there other differences?

No complete C20xe engine. XE doesn’t fit anywhere near on a cih block

I was wondering about an 8v injection head on the 1.8 ohc rather than a full swap.

I put one in my hatch before the 16v and had a modified manifold to run the original 1.8 Weber carb. 124hp on the dyno but I think it did have a big valve head. Still looked original too.
Paul Barrett
Seh is a great engine, was always undermined by the red top for conversions yet was much cheaper to source and still tuneable 2
Ems
I used to have mk1 Astra GTE head and injection system on my old 1.8, used to go well.
H-400
Had that 2 liter 8v engine in my Vectra A, did 350.000km's without any problems. Even with the same waterpump, every 60.000km I fitted a new cambeld and after inspection of the waterpump it went back in with a new rubber O-ring... No problemo 👍
