Saves you a few pound if you can do alot of work yourself, but it's a hard ball. Then there are alot who can't and prefer to buy built. cam.in.head Posted Wednesday at 10:09 Share Posted Wednesday at 10:09 (edited) unrestored all day long for me ! the problem with a " restored" car unless you know the before , progress and methods etc through actual or photographic evidence is that you dont know exactly what is underneath your beautifull shiny paintwork .same as people who send their car off for welding and it comes back all undersealed up ! ( although at least you could remove the underseal to check if you realy wanted but you cant realy do that to a painted body ! many "restored" cars will be done 100% properly but many will be quick tidy ups to make a quick profit with filler over holes and badly welded or fabricated areas . at least if you bought an unrestored original car you would be starting with a known base to work from . even if you cant do the work yourself you could visit and check the progress and advise / ask questions . problem now thou is everything is stupid expensive and cars which we would have bought years back as mot failures for £25 are now asking for thousands . im glad i bought all mine back in thd 80's and 90's when they were a few hundred cos theres no way in a million years i would pay the thousands people ask nowadays . yes its supply and demand and what people are willing to pay but mantas over £5000 etc is just stupid ( dont have a go here ! lol) makes me wonder if i should tone down my collection and sell my 74 low mileage viva or my carlton 2.2 ! There’s currently an ex Reinhard Heinbach restored car currently for sale at €259k. cam.in.head Posted yesterday at 10:27 Share Posted yesterday at 10:27 i wasnt realy intending to ! bought it when it was fairly new in 1994 for £1300. carnelian red . drove it as my almost daily driver until i bought my omega in 2015. not been on road since but all ready to go maybee next summer ( or wait another year for free tax !) same issue with the viva realy . not realy intend selling it (yet) bought it in 90 with around 40 odd k. now only about 10k extra but excellent condition and mostly orig paint ( still orig inner wings and sills) problem is with having 5 they dont all get used much and when i go they will all just go straight to the scrapyard no doubt which is a shame with all my parts collections too . dont think mh brother will be interested in trying to sell them on he ( like most prople) think old cars and stuff are worthless . he has numerous spares for a landrover fc 101 forward control that he once owned but never puts them on ebay cos he doesnt think anyone would want them despitd their rarity ! 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Deceased relatives etc, some have a nice wee story on a plaque, and it is a privilege to see them, some works of art, the engineering is unreal. But sad all the same, as they don't get used. After all they are a machine, a mechanical device. But majority of people have no interest, as they are not the easiest machine to operate. Sad all the same to see them unused, enjoyed, being part of someone's life, Always remember seeing the Norton V8 concept bike now getting revamped by Henry Cole and team. Also the Norton Rotary racers from the early 90, amazing machines with no engine braking 🤔🥵 But all beautiful bikes all the same. Think there are a load off ppl like this mate, then when they pass family me,bets end up skipping stuff as they have zero idea of what they are for.
