Robbie
Cheers misterconyers [] Spent a lot of time on the engine bits lately so upwards and onwards. All the brake lines to the rear mounted servo were run inside the car and the servo was mounted in the boot. I also run down the speaker cables and the fuel line at the same time. with that done a few of the interior bits were added like carpet in the boot and the card behind the servo. ooooooooooo rather posh lol the berlinetta door cards etc were put back on,[] they do look the part in the broadspeed replica. Some of the carpets have been installed as well but the front ones cant be finsihed until all the modified wiring harness is finished. http://www.mantamagic.com OMOC N,Ireland Rep id="blue"> OMOC 5706 Please dont shoot me it,s only an opinion not a demand Email robbie @ mantamagic.com (without the spaces)
Manta Mal
Hi Robbie, no stopping you on this project. Nice bit of brake pipe and fuel line plumbing, it's inside the car too! and why not.... no chance of the pipes getting beaten up from road stones. Remote servo in the boot looks the part, can't see the vacuum hose, does it need one? The door cards and cord seats, were a luxury back in the 70's, they just did not last as long as vinyl. Having said that, your seats and door cards, don't look too bad at all[8D]. Mal.....OMOC #6022 Start your Manta restoration today........ before it's too late! Robbie
Good point Mal [] servo pipe wasnt up throught the boot floor when i took that pic [:I], Its there now lol. The seats etc where recovered, as you say the old material seemed to rot very easily. must bring the camera out today and get some more pics if I get much done. Robbie
Cheers Ian, car is coming along nicely at the moment, I do hope you get that motor of yours finished and are able to attend billing this year [] Been hetic busy over the weekend, spent all day saturday on the car and got a few jobs sorted as well a making the stainless steel exhaust from scratch, that caused a few probs esp when the mig took a notion not to feed the stainless wire right. Sunday was of early in the morning over to bonney Scotland to pick up the young lads 1800 hatch which after a tad or 2 of good old haggling cost around £700 all in. We didnt get back to about 11.30 on Sunday night so the car didnt get a good look at till today under the pit and apart from a few odds and sods its a good wee motor, Best part was the 1800 engine had been rebuilt a few 1000 miles ago and fitted with fuel injection and drives really well Some more parts landed for the project car today which will free up more work [^]. Need more time in the day to get pics sorted and on [] http://www.mantamagic.com OMOC N,Ireland Rep id="blue"> OMOC 5706 Please dont shoot me it,s only an opinion not a demand Email robbie @ mantamagic.com (without the spaces)
Robbie
Got a few more fiddly jobs sorted out and some more wiring also took into the Exhaust system on Saturday after a good early start, this took most of the day tweeking bits and making sure everything was sitting properly before miging the joints in the sections with stainless wire. Bolted the system together under the car and seems to be sitting fine, just need to finish the rear bracket at some point.[] New stainless back box from good oil egay £50 including postage [] 2 clamp joints in the system one just past the rear arch and one at the 4 branch. getting the pipework over the back axle was a tad aquard, well worth the bit of work and effort though worked out a lot cheaper than going to a stainless exhaust center. Including the back box and clamps etc the finished system cost £109.00 http://www.mantamagic.com OMOC N,Ireland Rep id="blue"> OMOC 5706 Please dont shoot me it,s only an opinion not a demand Email robbie @ mantamagic.com (without the spaces)

Robbie
[] You should be able to get 3 meters for between £30 and £40, that enough to do a system , even buy the back box and pop to the exhaust boys and ask them to do the front and axle sections, shouldnt be really dear as they do tend to charge a lot for the stainless box. http://www.mantamagic.com OMOC N,Ireland Rep id="blue"> OMOC 5706 Please dont shoot me it,s only an opinion not a demand Email robbie @ mantamagic.com (without the spaces)

Manta Mal
Hi Robbie, High standard of exhaust pipe plumbing there. How did you bend that pipe over the rear axel.....across both your knees or round the back of your neck[?][]......... tried that with copper tube and it just puts a kink in it. Perhaps you bought that section pre formed[?] That was a bargin exhaust box too, looks brand new. Do you know who the manufacturer is[?] I picked up a used big bore Scorpion rear stainless box, from a auto jumble a while ago, was real cheap, will just give it a try, when the time comes. Robbie
Hi Mal trying to bend stainless [] is not as simple as bending copper or even mild steel pipe, and you need a hydraulic press. presses you can get quite cheap, my former wasnt just 100% for the pipe so I filled it with sand and welded up the ends, that stops it kinking as much. 2 1/4 isnt the best size to do the exhaust in parts wise its really hard to get bends etc so if your stuck the local exhaust center may bend a bit for you if you ask them real nice lol. If you use 2" or 2.5" use can get it of any stainless stockholder. just as for 304 grade stainless dairy tubing. also if u use 2 or 2.5 you can do the exhaust without a bender, just buy 90 and 45 deg bends as they are normal stock []. Then weld the lot together. lol as for the copper pipe get a 15mm spring from the local plumbing merchant or B&Q that will do any small bends you need, I have proper pipe benders but I use them regular. The back box is brand new , I aint got a clue what make its supposed to be but knowing stainless it looks the part and is well welded. DO a search on ebay for stainless back box you will see loads of them and not expensive. Robbie
Ok think I,ve got caught up on the pics and the work done this past week, which has been a bit hetic. [] Think I,ll take some time out after today and do a few more wee jobs that the better half has lined up. After the front fan etc was done I sorted out the rest of the brake lines, I was just waiting on some hoses arriving from Rally Design to suit the 16V brake setup on the front of the car. Hopefully now its just a matter in a few weeks to get the brake lines bled, if the servo I got is working fine . I ran a few extra cables to the rear of the car for future use or encase I had forgot anything, including wires for the new Facet Comp silver top pump which I hope to mount in the boot rather than underneath the car. With that out of the road some more of the interior could be put back in. The rear parcel shelf carpet was tidied and had some rear speakers installed, this was done before the front and rear screens went back into the car, I don't like fitting the screens, its not to bad with used rubber seals but new seals are a pure nightmare as I found out when doing the white V8. The rear seats were installed again with the rear quarter cards, Then the roller seat belts fitted, The door cards I had previously fitted so the front carpets were fitted now and the centre console put back in its place [] The inside is really starting to take shape again although there is still a lot of work to do, some wiring and the accelerator pedal assembly all needs modified, I don't like the big paddle that comes from the floor on the A. http://www.mantamagic.com OMOC N,Ireland Rep id="blue"> OMOC 5706 Please dont shoot me it,s only an opinion not a demand Email robbie @ mantamagic.com (without the spaces)

Robbie
Cheers, I was a tad dubious about the interior when the car was burgandy, but it does look nice in the Black car or should do once i get the front seats bolted in and the other small jobs sorted out. Didnt get as much done this week as I had hoped got a bug that was going around and that knocked me out of action for 3 days [] I got the Pedal assembly all sorted now and nice new alloy pedals fitted, the accelerator pedal took a bit of fiddling about changing the angle and leaving it so I could get a real pedal on it,then a night was spent moving the rear exhaust box in 3" as I just wasnt happy with how far it sat out. Apart from that the rest of the time was spent getting the rest of the exterior bits sorted and put back on using loads of waxoyl [] I noticed yesterday its almost a year to the day from when we picked up the car from the mainland, there is still plenty of jobs to do and its at that annoying stage where you end up thinking you have all the parts but constantly find out you need more bits, and hence delays. Anyways the sun was out today which was hearting and the workshop needed a good tidy out and brushing, heres some pics I took today outside is almost finished just needs a go with G10 and the stripes fitted when i get them. Standard rear lights were changed for the Opel Gt ones. Standard at the front with the addition of the Broadspeed spoiler. Stripes still need fitting. Back box set in a bit further. still need to get the bracket painted and the antisplatter spray cleaned of the box. Revolutions seem to suit the car well now. I need to get the Petrol tank modified now by taking about 4" of the end of it, and get the prop shaft posted over to reco prop. Any thoughts on the overall look on the car now. http://www.mantamagic.com OMOC N,Ireland Rep id="blue"> OMOC 5706 Please dont shoot me it,s only an opinion not a demand Email robbie @ mantamagic.com (without the spaces)
