upk
unless you plan to remove that dizzy, you will need to modify the bulkhead, and find another way to heat the car cos the standard fan unit wont fit!

Robbie
UPK your quite right, could pop in an 1800 dissy at the front but I don't think it will look right. The coil pack is the other option, sent of an email yesterday to give them the engine spec and get a price on the unit. Has anyone fitted one of these before, the engine is well tuned and I,m not sure if this is installed wether or not the engine will need tuned again. If it turned out to be to much hassle I could always do the same as is in my V8 and use an oil cooler and 2 6" kenowles fans for a heater trumpets on the 40,s would be another is but irt looks like I,m going to mount 2 remote servos in the boot and just fit a master cyliner in the engine bay. The oil cooler will prob be installed in the front grill in front of the rad. Engine mounts of the A should do the job but may need modified will have to check this one out later. Bling hopefully Clive can sort out some parts that I will want to pop in, will know better what we can or cant do when I get a reply [] http://www.mantamagic.com OMOC N,Ireland Rep id="blue"> OMOC 5706
Guest
wouldn't the remote servos mean a pretty hefty linkeage & a poor brake pedal ? OMOC 5885 How to post Images
Robbie
No problems with a remote servo that way Pete, once the brakes are blead, the pedal still drives a master cylinder in the normal fashion, that inturn just drives the fluid to the servo, there is no real compression in the fluid, to give a soft pedal or loads of travel the fluid would need to compress. The brakes on my V8 are nearly to sharp, but at least she stops lol. http://www.mantamagic.com OMOC N,Ireland Rep id="blue"> OMOC 5706
upk
robbie, A type mounts not your best choice, you need the 1800 manta alloy mounts(pair posted on ebay today), will do the job perfectly when used with ford rs2000 engine mount rubbers and some additional spacers. Manta rubbers are two soft. i also have info somewhere how to use ford fiesta/escort ignition pack and remote coilpack (20-30 quid from scrappy). i,ll see if i can find it as it will work no hassle with the twin carbs. ( the guy who showed me used it on an XE with R1 bodies in a capri).
Robbie
Cheers that info will be great on the ignition pack, would it need remapped ?, I have 1800 mounts with the engine so if they suit better I can use them instead. Can have a hunt for the rs engine mount rubbers. I take it the spacers go between the rubber and the mount, or from the rubber to the xmember ?. http://www.mantamagic.com OMOC N,Ireland Rep id="blue"> OMOC 5706
MrCarlos
I used 3ltr Capri engine mounts when I fitted my XE - I ran standard injection and these gave me enough clearance for the SFI airbox without it fouling the bonnet. Needed 2 thin shims between the alloy engine mounts (1800 ones) and the top of the rubbers to stop it fouling the crossmember when the car was being driven hard. I'd love the info about using the Ford ignition too, I'm reshelling the car now and I'd like to avoid hacking the heater box up again! opel2000
Could also go down the scrappies and pick up the coil pack and associated gubbins off of a 1.2 Corsa, absolute pennies and understand they are a straight forward fit. Robbie
Cheers for the info guys will have to get alook into that, still awaiting a price on the dedicated coil pack and control bet it won't be as cheap as the scapies [] Thanks for the reply Clive on the bling will have to add a few of your bits car would not be the same without it [] just need to sort whats within the budget. I can see the shed coming along, once the shell is sprayed it will look a lot better, but us DIY guys can't stop theat damm dust and it takes many many nights to get the car cut down to get a reasonable finish [] lol think I,m beginning to dream project car, it must it must it must be sprayed for the weekend [] http://www.mantamagic.com OMOC N,Ireland Rep id="blue"> OMOC 5706

gunman
HMMM.. not cheap is it. Did you not see one somewhere for about £250? opel2000
Heck![:0] that's a stupid price if ever I saw one. TBH though Robbie I have noticed some absolutely stupid prices for Vauxhall stuff. For example Courtneys prices for upgrading the LET turbo and the turbo fitted to the VXR's is about double what the Nissan boys are paying for the same bloody turbo. opel2000
Also Robbie. For the price of £600 I would be looking at altering the heater box if I were you. Not the easiest of areas to tackle, but I could possibly make a full modified to clear dizzy stainless steel version for less than £600. this is the top part I recently done for a customer East Midlands area Rep. email opel2000@ntlworld.com Shiny bits http://www.customsolutions.me.uk

On another shiny note the shell is now sprayed [] Need to get the bonnet, boot etc sorted now, and the car has to be sanded and buffed which takes agesssssssssssssssssss, At this rate of going I,m going to have no fingerprints left, days of water and sandpaper don't go well together . h0tr0dder_uk
wow - thats looks good in black. The original plan for mine was to have it straight black with good chromework, but have decided to go with a drak metallic grey now. Think my pro street b series will be black though. Robbie
Cheers [] hopefully the paint work will look better when i get it sanded down and buffed, this part of the restoration does my head in. I'm not the most patient bloke in the world. Trying at the moment to source all the bits and bobs I need to get the 16V engine in. Picked up a couple of remote servos today so thats another bit of the list. [] Hoping to have another manifold in a week or so, was thinking about getting it ceramic coated and it would be a finished job then. Got a few other parts thanks to Del last night, Next on the shopping basket is a spal fan for the rad, and some 16V calipers. http://www.mantamagic.com OMOC N,Ireland Rep id="blue"> OMOC 5706
