Jonathan Pounsett
You’re right those wheels look good. Black on blue is a good combination too.

Jessopia74
Back from work so getting a few days on the car. just started on the sump. Working with a off the shelf MK2 escort Redtop steel pan and a laser cut flange. Swapped the inlet manifold to a modified 9000 type, found a modded on of FB, weld is a bit cruddy, but it's functional. Exhaust manifold swapped to 9000 type too. Picture shows the larger 9-5 next the tighter 9000 exhaust manifold, and the flip plate that allows the std.manifold to be used for top mounting. I started to modify the x-member too, but more on that once I know the space I am working with. Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member. Jessopia74
Got sone info back from the machine shop, they have finally started on the 24v head conversion! Head has been cut and welding started, hopefully machining and the end plate later this week. I better start thinking about finalising what Pistons and rods I am going to use in the 2.4 block. Still need to find a Monza 3.0E 12v flat manual flywheel, it's the ony thing I have not been able to find. So if anyone knows of one, pkease lmk🍻 Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member.
Jessopia74
Stripped one if the 2.4 lumps today and had a nice surprise. Will advertise the head and other bits later. Just picked up a new 3.0 flywheel this week too, that lightened and balanced already. It’s list about 2kg from the rough and very crude method of using uncalibrated bathroom scales method ; my son + GTE flywheel / new flywheel. Jessopia74
Stripped no2 C24NE top end down today, original GM headgasket fitted, can’t see any sign that it’s ever had any head work down at all. Looks like it’s been running nice through its end of life too, and bores not too worn on std pistons. I dropped the cam gear on the floor and knocked a couple of teeth off 😖. Another head off to Holland! Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member. Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member. Not much tbh, IIRC the 2.2 uses something like a225mm. But the 12v 3.0 uses 240mm. So it could be an option tbh, If you have it please let me know mate

GTEPETE
Interesting that not all (first 4 cylinders!) 24v cylinder head bolt holes line up with the bolt holes in 4 cylinder blocks...

The headgasket you buy for the conversion surprisingly is already done

H-400
Looks nice Jess, my engine would love that conversion but I can't get it over my heart to cut into the original 400 head. GTEPETE
Herman, I can see a sump baffle plate above the head gasket, do you have a technical drawing or just made it free hand? I still need to make one for my car...
H-400
Hi Pete, bought this baffle plate at Risse Motorsport cause it was rather cheap, otherwise I had to buy a steel sheet etc... But I copied it on an A4 paper. Give me some time to look for it, I'm ready to go to a late (covid) wedding party. (And don't have to drive...🍺)
H-400
Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member. Very hard to show it on this forum, scanned it as a pdf (couldn't scan it as a picture, too white...). PM your email and I can email the pdf. The width is exactly the same as an A4 paper (21cm). After testfitting I had to make the oval hole longer cause the dipstick touched the baffle plate. Project images are available to Club Members Only, Click to become an OMOC Member. Welded in, jou can see the changed dipstick hole Edited March 13, 2022 by H-400
Jessopia74
Picked the completed welded head up today, so will be taking it to machine shop next. They need to skim the back of the head flat and make up the cover plate. There is currently 2 options for this 1) welded and 2) Bolt on. I have opted for the bolt on type as if Ihave issues with porosity with the welding in the future, I can strip it and do something about it rather than scrapping the head. Been a LONG time with the welders, too long really but they work away doing high pressure industrial pipework, so it was best option really as this is right in their welding skillset.
