What does anyone think of the price

What’s the true price of the manta

ls it a realistic price?

Who knows? i personally think its high, and i know how good this car is, but its probably one of the best unrestored cars left, yes its had a glass out bare metal respray but its never been taken apart and restored.

Thats a rare thing in itself, Good luck to them if they get near that price, and i mean that sincerely as they were fantastic to deal with when i sold it to them.

The market will decide, if someone is willing to pay that for the car then it's realistic. If they've still got it a few months down the line then they are being optomistic. Obviously any car sold through a dealer will be a higher price than one sold privately, and even then if it does sell for that money it doesn't mean that a similar car that came to market would make the same (there might only have been one person who was willing to pay that much)

It seems pricey, but still only a little over half what you'd pay for a comparable Capri 3.0s or an RS2000...

What would an average, GTE white coupe be, OMOC market guide 15k, would you get it to this standard for 10, 15k ? Less than 30k, restoration, paint, parts.

So is this a bargain? With just 65k miles.

I will do the normal and say very nice car, good luck with sale.

If you buy this Manta at £28.5k to drive and enjoy you won’t be disappointed, but if you’re buying it purely as an investment I feel it could be a big risk.

it certainly looks stunning,

over the last few years Manta Coupe’s rarely come up for sale, but here we have two fantastic examples offered to the market, a Monaco blue coupe £25k, and the white coupe 28.5k, is this happening because of the uncertainty going forward with classic cars and owners timing the market correctly?

This Monaco blue coupe: OPel Manta GTE Exclusive - 3 Owners 40K Miles | eBay?

Quite local to me but I don't really know any other Manta owners up here and don't know the car, nice as it is.

High prices are a funny thing, a bit like equity in your house, great if you wanna sell but not much so much use if you're holding on to / staying put. I'm lucky having had my car since the late 90s, always fancied another (or a Monza) but with prices high I don't think I'll ever achieve that. But mustn't grumble, very fond of mine 🙂

As Mike says, if you want it to drive and enjoy you won't go wrong with either car, but if buying as an investment it is maybe going in a little high.

And as Steve says, you only need one buyer 🙂

Wonder do Ford guys grumble and take a slightly negative view on prices.

yes, they do!

Too high, too low, wrong time, back when, had one, nearly had one, sold one, kept one, if only...😁

Maybe that's just me though!

As nice as it is, iconic, piece of history

Or build something like this. More power for a little less? Maybe 😎

About time someone built a (dare I say mk2 spec), Manta.

Well that's the shell, runner and looks sorted, but what axle? surely the 1.8  getrag would be upgraded 😂

The black 400r is mine I'm building it on YouTube. That shell just had 13k spent on it for paint and fitting of the body kit.

DME (Dunne Motorsport Engineering) in Ireland are doing the fab work on a Manta for class 14 rallying. Spec is meant to be millington diamond, sequential box etc...

Really hope that goes ahead, would be brilliant to see

Be great to see this, manta shells are not as scarce as must think, wise thing would be to have a spare shell, should it go wrong.

Given this would be easy to tally up what it would take to build a competitive class 14 manta, against a mk2.

And would it be less than a 400? Better is questionable, as you have the rarity, history, and luck of owning such a piece of Opel history / a manta 400. 😎

On a more down to earth conversation, would the white example be more sort after than an all bells and whistles resto ?

I see that my old car is reserved again, so looks to me like the very best examples are now achieving the money they deserve. Been in the shadow of fast fords for too long now. A classic car dealer i know has said the ford market has started to stagnate a little currently, not dropping but not rising like we have seen, but the GM market is still showing an increase on cars like the Manta, Kadett coupe, Astra GTE and Cavalier SRi etc.
