Blitz Cloth!

All;

Paul N does have some Blitz material left, but only enough to do his cars and my next two projects.

The posibility of getting enough people intrested in a club buy / order of the material is a possibility.

But there needs to be enough intrest, we would have to pay upfront as well.

Happy to look into this for the club depending on how many club members are intrested.

Will start the ball rolling by finding out costs etc. This will take a couple of weeks. The other point is that most people will need new piping as well.

I no for a fact that only the black piping is available from a supplier in Germany for the seats. I will ask him how much he has left. The last lt I got was about €2.00 a meter.

I would say that its not really possible, I do have a small stock left but its for my own use, the guy In the US who had it made last time tells me the makers upped the minimum order to a Kilometer, so whoever buys it has to front up a lot of money, and wait for it to be made, the makers are in Peru I believe and personal visits to Peru are essential to make sure they make the right thing otherwise you end up with a km of material that looks nothing like what you want. I have seen 3 different types of Blitz mateial from the same maker, the pre production stuff, the production stuff prior to treating and the finished product I have a little of all 3 here and they are quite different.

Unfortunatly I think the possibility of having more made has gone unless you have deep pockets and plenty of time to go to Peru where the patterns/looms are that made the last batch.

If you want to try closer to home then find a genuine Blitz interior, cut a decent size swatch out of a seat and go around places with looms asking for prices for low volume runs, 100m is a low vol run, a car takes about 2 m if the cloth is 4 "blitzes" wide with space to cut and stitch the stripes to the rest of the cloth, so 100m should do about 50 cars. Work out if you can get 50 cars worth sold and see if it do-able.

Be aware of flooding the market though.

I would be very interested in this material, if it can be purchased at a resonable price (don't know the costing, but still expect it not to be cheap).

I am in no hurry to get material but if we can get enough people to commit to purchasing the cloth, at a resonable price it could be worth the time and effort to search for it.

Will anyone(or group)be chasing up the material search, availabilty and costing. I would like to assist if anyone can point me in the right direction, but it probably will not be too the New Year, as I have some commitments to attend to.

I have already started the process of ascertaining if it is possible to get some remanafactured.

So we need a list of who actually needs the material. for either coupe or hatch and how many cars.

So to start the list.

1. Retro Power (2 Cars)

2.

3.

4.

During my life I have been a member of many clubs, shooting, fishing, motoring, rugby and others, been very involved in a couple of them too, but having just read all the above posts, I have never seen such dedication by members as some of the members in this club show, they really go out of their way to please and help others. Just thought that it was worth a mention :thumbup

OK, panic over! I've sorted some. I'll be getting a sample in the next week or so, so I'll post a pic when I get it. :thumbup

Right, I have a sample. It is very, very good in my opinion. The fabric is spot-on. I need to 'sell' around 14 car's worth to make it worthwhile. The price will be £300 for enough to do a full interior (2x Recaro's and 1x Manta/Ascona back seat).

I can also get the correct cloth for the side bolsters if anyone is interested.

Please let me know if you want any on here, and I'll be in touch with you before I order.

Cheers,

Callum.
