the cables are different. you can use an auto one also on a manual but not the other way round.

the correct auto one should be spring loaded at the bulkhead.to allow for full throttle movement up to the point that the kickdown cable goes tight. the remaining pedal travel then operates the kickdown cable against this spring loading.

i will have a hunt around.

looking at the unusual style of carb attachment that yours looks to have makes me think that its a 1.9 but im sure you once said its a 2.0 ?

1.6 and 2.0 have a fairly short cable which just fits to a bracket to the left of the carb.not below it like yours so you may struggle to find one .

whats wrong with yours anyway ?

It was a 1.9 but had a 2.0 replaced many years ago, the outer plastic sleeve has almost gone and it’s heavy to use which makes me think it’s binding.

you could always remove it to check. and then maybee a light 3 in 1 type oil to lubricate if its found to be ok. possibly some heat shrink sleeve over it to make it good again.

the original cables were usually very good quality and nylon lined .some replacement cables are not as good.

ebaying it seems to find a couple but only for manual .they also seem to cross reference kadet too ?

next time im in the shed il have a look. i may have a used one but not sure if its from an auto ?

Thanks, I will do that, there are no kinks so might just need some lube.

Found a cable for the 1.9 auto on eBay and yes it is a lot longer!

Thanks, good advice.

I will check oil before I leave, the guy seems to know what he is doing, when I turned up he said ahhh a TH180!

it’s a specialist transmission shop, RGC in Leeds, and when he took me though how to fit and set up the box I quickly decided to leave it to him to do when he can fit it in which is why it’s been 6 weeks.

He also pointed out a number of other things he spotted when he test drive the car like flywheel teeth worn (swopped for a good one) and speedo drive leaking which he fixed which were above and beyond, so feeling he’s done a good job.
