Started up the the manta this morning, oil pressure reading 3 bar very happy

When started the revs are at 2,000 RPM for about 1 minute

When close the rubber pipe ( one in photo) the revs drop

Have got a spare one which l will try,the is a adjustment nut on the valve can this be adjusted so it will bring down the revs when cold

Had a go at wiring up the wing indicators

On the steering column wire in there

black/ green for the O/ S

black/ white for the N/S

Every works as it should, all indicators are working turn of the engine,

key in number one place all good

pull the key and the flasher relay starts to click very fast ( as a bulb out)

No indicators on the dash, or any indicators on

The only outer wire is a brown/ white, which l think is for the horn

I am missing something, any information appreciate

How easy is it to find other work in your area? Could you go self employed?

In September 2020 I took the decision to go self employed, had been thinking about it for years, at the start I was worried about where my customers would come from, but I started off by estimating and winning work, advance booking customers in my diary so on day one of start up I had jobs organised. I now have a good customer base and it keeps growing month on month, should have done it years ago so don’t worry and see it as an opportunity to move forward or do something you have always wanted to do.

Sorry to hear this mate, I know it’s not unusual these days and not supposed to be personal but it still feels like crap.
Hope you find something else that you’ll enjoy soon.

Yes tax free up £30,000 ,plus l can get £££ per week from the dole ( unknown how much as l have never done this before)

It’s been 40 plus years that l have not had a job

I got paid off 3 years ago at 59 and thought ok so I don’t need to work for a year but who is going to employ me, needn’t  have worried ageism isn’t what it was landed some contract work after a few months off and now perm again on similar salary with a lot less hassle and cash in the bank, was actually a good thing in the end.

Good luck mate, local f]garage would surely love a man of your experience, so get yourself out there and see what’s about - even if part time I guess?

Or perhaps you might be able to take early retirement?

Having trouble with the N/S wing indicator can’t get to work right

It will light up ,have tried wiring to the wiring on the steering column,O/S working fine , wired up the N/S on the N/S wiring on the column works great until pull the key out then just flashing

Have tried wiring it up the the green/ black wiring coming out of the relay

As above just flashing.

Dave has said that it’s wired into the wiring loom by the headlight switch can’t see any marks on the wiring where they have been wired in

Anyone know what colour the wing indicator is

Was thinking running a wire from the front indicator to the wing one as don’t fancy pull the dash out again

If the mot is looming I would run a temporary wire from the indicator as you suggest. You can replace it next time you have the dash out.

I’ve been driving around without a speedo for the same reason. I have the new cable but don’t want to remove the dash that was only recently installed.

Got a air leak from the inlet manifold, was ok until l replaced with a black painted one

So thinking that the manifold my be twisted, bowed

Going to refit the original one back on ,replaced the manifold gasket hopefully that will cure it

Give the inlet manifold a bit of a clean and will fit in the next couple of days

Remove the inlet, exhaust manifolds ,checked the gaskets all looked ok

Removed the injection housing to swop over

Found a crack in on of the injector housing, had one in my spare bits

when the manifold was of put a heat cover over the pressure switch, hopefully will prevent the wiring fro falling apart

Refit the manifolds ,started the engine running ok ,checked the the timing was set at 23 ,reset it to 10 now running really nice

Run a wire from the front indicator to the wing indicator, working fine

So l think is ready for the MOT
