Robbie
Took some pics of the Centaur today, come a long way from Biling for those who where lucky enough to be able to go. Hard to know what to think on this one as its kinda different. from this few days later with steam hose and some polish and febreeze then with a few months graft http://www.vxopel.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3146 to getting there this still loads to do but looking more like a car

Robbie
Cheers Simon its coming along, was a bit of a headache pondering on what it would look like, ages spent puting stuff on and off, will I or wont I, i,m sure u know what I mean. Just cant find a VXR engine lying about though I could imagine having fun with that. Dunno about the weather Gary, David we can but hope and if rains drive the Audi lol not the mantas
pat
first class work , lookes a treat , must admit i'd have kept the cav nose just for the hell of it , but thats just me out of interest what make was the front spoiler on it when you got it , wouldn't mind one of those on my cav coupe , how come you never refitted it? garymanc
wonder if a saab 2.3 turbo would fit seem's to be the new thing from corsa/nova/astra forum's. and there not a bad price
Robbie
got a crack in the front spoiler pat hence not fitting it and couldn't get another, its an Irmscher item. will keep an eye out for one or get this one fixed and put it away with all the other original bits so it can be put back to spec again if required. Saab engine never thought about one of them what RWD gearbox fits them
garymanc
this is the bit i dont understand, they use f20 / f28 gearbox thats in fwd,so i am trying to work out what box was in the c20xe before it went into a manta so its the same as 1.8 box. keith1200
Robbie is there any chance of seeing pictures of the inner-arches before you paint them? Its just that I've spent near 60 hours on my 'mint' coupes inner archs to get them rust free and I'm wondering 'how' you do it so easy Cheers Keith
Robbie
Same as all my projects Keith and it aint easy just get stuck in with a wire cup brush and take it down to bare metal, then cut out or replace any metal as needed and prime fast. will look and see if I got any pics on this one, there are loads on my other projects of A posts etc. Glad you got yours well stripped looking forward to the pics
Shuviteer
got a crack in the front spoiler pat hence not fitting it and couldn't get another, its an Irmscher item. will keep an eye out for one or get this one fixed and put it away with all the other original bits so it can be put back to spec again if required. Saab engine never thought about one of them what RWD gearbox fits them Try buying PPC, (Practical Performance Car, new one just out !) and you will see that they have been doing for months an article about the said engine. Also what gearbox fits as they are putting it into a Mk 2 Escort. The bolt pattern is the same as Vaux/Opel after '96 as they were bought out by GM. Was going to go down this route myself as you can get more power (280 bhp ) without any problems, yet the C20let way will cost you thousands. So try something a bit different.........still GM, though . ps, I still think that the Centaur should have kept it's standard looks though .! A377 SAS
That's amazing, Robbie. Never seen one of them. Great work and the mods are very tasteful. Top job!
alan
Here's my mates centaur. Its been stuck in his garden for the last 3 years, all it needs is a back axle and she's a runner. But every time he comes across an axle they seem to be all down south somewhere. It's got a sri 130 8 valve in it at the mo but he has a 2.4 cih to go in it when he gets round to it. Robbie
shouldnt be that hard to get an axle, cars get broke all the time or he could put new bearings in it, seems a shame to have it sat there the tin worm will be attacking underneath
GTEPETE
Whatever happened to the GTE Exclusive convertible which attended Billing 1999/ 2000?

midasmesh
Yes nice work Robbie top notch job you've done there.
Robbie
They would be ace on a mk1 cav, a bit like fitting a broadspeed spoiler to an A series manta it totally transform's the car just but adding one bit. The spoiler I have is all there easy enough to fix again to take a mould from, Not a whole pile of MK1 cav owners out there though, but there agin it will fit the early B cars as well. Snowy
I'd have one for my mk1 cav if you could get a copy made. As long as the price was right. Thanks

Dunno about the weather Gary, David we can but hope and if rains drive the Audi lol not the mantas Hey Robbie, you must have spies in this area!. Simon Peckham and myself were talking about these engines the other day and the Saab unit. ZLET is the way to go, red tops are now dead. We have a VXR here thats been re-mapped, bigger intercooler, and exhaust and thats putting out over 300bhp . Don't think a 1.8 box will cope. Anyway having seen that four wheel skip your brought to Billing all i can say is . Top job that man Cheers Andy (don't forget the old V6)
Robbie
can i have the engine please Andy oo and intercooler Thought it would be a good way to go as its a vx family engine and wouldnt look outa place, just some evolution. would be funny as though, could u imagine someone taking the piddle out of a convertible and then laying down that power in a car that weights 1 tonne
