Often she looks dark brown then the light changes and she’s Sandy 🤷‍♂️

I started with some easy jobs;

Headlights in,

Door handles and locks fitted (boot lock mislaid),

Rear lights,

Badges - so people know what it is 😂,

Bonnet struts and catch,

VIN plate,

Front and rear bumpers reassembled- the powder coating made them hard to reassemble,

Bumpers fitted.

i found that with mine too when it was hazel brown. the brochure pics look superb and potray it as a dark brown but in brighter sunlight the metallic is more apparent but the colour looks more goldy .similar story with lots of colours realy especialy metallics. and again even more so on some of the modern super  bright colours ,perlescent i beleive.

either way great cars anyway especially pre82 years and well ahead of their time in the day and hold there own nowadays in virtually all scenarios

To work on the car I need to push it outside and this isn’t possible with so much wet weather. So it’s been slow progress but I’ve managed a few jobs;

~ Front and side trim. Cill strip was damaged and needs repair or replacement so not fitted yet.

~ New door glass seals fitted.

~ Side vents on.

~ Wiper motor body powder coated and mechanism cleaned and painted and all fitted.

~ Petrol tank refurbished. Flushed internally, sprayed satin black externally, new hoses and clips.

~ Door check straps refurbished and refitted. (Not good).

~ Window runners installed. Top portion and wing mirror mounts powder coated.

~ Heater box modified to clear new transmission tunnel. I had to remove the front of the seem weld joining the two halves together. Luckily it’s a full penetration weld so not detrimental to the original heater box.

~ Brake servo and pedal box back in.

~ Sunroof completely dismantled and cleaned. I need to find a new seal if anyone knows a good supplier.

~ Roof aerial refurbed and refitted but still needs replacing as the base has a split in it 😬.

~ Washer jets and new hoses fitted.

~ Some interior temporarily fitted as I still need a black carpet.

Exhaust manifolds modified, extended, cleaned treated and wrapped. New boss for wideband sensor welded into position.

I’m very happy with the finished product 😁.

Heater controls modified to clear the reorientated heater matrix. I’ve turned it on end so the hose connections are at the top of the heater box.

The lower bolt on the steering column universal joint snagged on the exhaust down pipe so I welded the joint directly to the shaft and ground away the excess. I won’t know if there’s enough clearance until it’s all assembled but it’s better than it was.

Oh I got it in - but I have 9 clashes (that I know of) to deal with!

1 remake and move fuel lines bracket,

2 remake transmission tunnel - the “expert” didn’t make what I asked for🤬,

3 remake heater box - I was the “expert” in this instance,

4 re-route brake pipes,

5 notch out coil bracket to clear servo,

6 re-space coils on left bank to clear brake pipe at master cylinder,

7 centralise engine. It’s 10mm too close to passenger side chassis rail,

8 take a skim off the front edge of battery tray,

9 new hole through bulk head for engine wiring harness.

All easily achievable, but I feel like I’m going backwards taking the engine out again!
