This car is still in body work stage. Tom my body man has been working he's magic on it. I can only put him on this car inbetween truck jobs, which is only a day here and there. He's come in a few days over Xmas and pressed on with it. The body kit was pretty crap to say the least, and it's needed tons and tons of work as it's very rippled with it being fibreglass. He's also had to give pretty much every panel a light skim to get out imperfections small dents, and Make the lines and panel gaps better than they left the factory. It's slow going but he's making progress. In the meantime I can only plod on with my other projects. Once this is in paint it will take priority 😀 oh I've also decided to go with a GTE spoiler instead of the 3 peice one. I prefer the lower, smoother look.

That's looking good! Stupid question time, why is the bonnet & front apron covered?

Not a silly question mate. The reason is them bits still need work. And we have a truck coming in for full repaint on Monday, so this car will now be on the back burner again for another 3 weeks till the truck is done. With this cold damp weather I just wanted some primer on the bits he's been working on as some bits was still bare metal, and I was concerned about rust setting in. He just ran out of time to finish front and rear. Hes been working on the sided and roof, making ghe kit fit better as it was poorly fitted, and been getting all the panel gaps and swage lines bang on 👍

I've set up a YouTube Channel, to upload pics of the projects and just general opel antics 😀

Cheers Andy! I guessed there would be a logical reason!

This is only the first stage of a filler primer, he will guide coat this now to find any imperfections,. He will then flat the guide coat off by hand to reveal any small imperfections which will then be addressed, and the whole car will be primered again a solid 2k primer before the finishing coats 👍

Andy what way do you work with priming door shuts etc. Off the car? Or areas like rear edge of front wing.

Normally remove the doors mate. Doors will be coming off this at some point. We are just trying to get the majority done, as there wasn't a straight panel on this car and the body kit was way out. Took a lot of work to get to this point. Once we are happy with the outer panels, doors etc..  will be removed at that point for final primeing.

Andy, how the hell do you get all the paint off without damaging the metal, this looks like a brand new bonnet before paint. Top job!

What materials! Equipment do you use! I will need this one day soon.

We use a lot of DA Sanders, one of which has a grind setting. Also just roloc with 80 grit pads, and wire wheels on the dye grinder. It's just a lot of time and perseverance. I can't take any credit for this part of the build. This is all done by my in-house body/paint man Tom. He's as old-school as they come, and a great bloke, he's a great asset to our team.

Does Tom want another bonnet posted over, i would even risk it being kicked to death by mr courier! If i could get it this clean, ok ive been shown the bench mark! Now i even know how, old school it is then! :thumbup

Tom's super busy. I employed him to repair and restore trucks, then started chucking mantas at him 😂 it keeps him busy inbetween jobs and he enjoys it as it gives him something different to do. No one likes to do the same old jobs day in day out. The cars take a long time for that reason, as paid customer work always has to come first.

All body prep is now complete, and the car will be in paint by the end on the week. Got cage painted and will install it before it gets painted, so we don't cause any damage/scratches to the car whilst fitting it.
