hi Mike,

as regards your under tray: I dont recall ever seeing one anywhere in all the time I've owned Mantas, and i cant find anything online; I think Sean400 had these made up in the long distant past.

I think a lot of members would like one of these for their cars, and with this in mind, can you take measurements of your one along with close up photos, with the idea that a batch of these can be 3D printed for us to buy.

this is because trying to keep the engine bay clean has always been a nightmare for our cars.

what do others on here think?

thought it lit when you turn on the lights, that's why I disconnected it.

Mine works with side lights, thought it was broken until one day I popped the bonnet with side lights on!

pretty sure these were standard fitment on the 1.9. cav. certainly were on the 2 i had. most originals probably rotted away now thou.

ok, so these were steel not plastic? I couldn't tell from the photos. its just a real pain trying to keep the engine bay clean. my exclusive is currently undergoing major mechanical work, and I'm having the car fully repainted afterwards, so I'm looking of any way to keep the engine bay clean, post works.

the car will only be used in the summer months which will help, but as its having its bright yellow paint renewed, road dirt will be very visible, a bit like your white colour.

Yes, the drip tray is made of steel and I did see some OEM numbers on it before I fitted it, so I believe it to be a genuine part, possibly from the 1.9 Cavalier, it just bolts on without any modifications to existing holes with bolts from the anti roll bar and the earth strap on the inner rails.

I've got one of these waiting to be cleaned up for my own car. The only number I can see on mine is either 23 5 or 25 5. I can't see any other numbers although it is covered in sanding dust at the moment.

Happy to take some measurements and photos if you think you can copy it. Probably easy with one on front of you but more difficult from photos etc. I would have thought.

It would definitely be easier to measure up or scan being off the car, quite difficult to measure properly with all the curves and stepped heights.
is there a scan option for re manufacturing?

I’m away to remove my alloys to give them a good clean and clean up the inner wings etc, I’ll check on part numbers when I’m in there and post them up 👍

Probably better to get a mould of it, would fibreglass be suitable? Plastic would be better, kevlar would be better or carbon fibre.

I've a contact that makes carbon fibre roof skins, and not overly expensive now.

Or maybe steel or alloy?

I think it would depend on how many were needed. If someone just wanted one that looked similar and did the job I think it could be copied in steel or aluminium quite easily. It looks complicated but it's just three flatish panels spot welded together. If you wanted to make a few then a fibreglass mould would be the way forward I guess.

If the club wanted to copy this one they could but I'd need it back in due course. Not sure how you would move it around as it's pretty heavy and awkward in shape.

What about some paper templates if I could think of away to scan them in and upload them?

A tube frame and composite would be nice. So the subframe can be left in place and just remove the composite parts for access as per modern ones?

how much would you want for it Sean?

thanks for the additional pic Niklev2525. can this be transferred to a large paper sized template? a page each for the base and one of the sides?

Happy to try and make some templates up. Do you just want them sent to you in the post? I'm not sure how you would go about scanning something that big in.

I'll have a play this weekend.
