Are you using red oxide primer, highbuild primer, black base coat, then colour! Is it all 2 pack? Looks great, nice build, i know it going backways, but any pics of small pinhole repairs. Door frames and front panel. Great build, very unique car.

The guy has been quite secretive about the paints he used - he’s probably worried that I may do it myself next time. I’ve asked him if he could be really specific about the system he used so we’ll see what he comes back with.

I’ve found a few photos that may show what you’ve asked for. They are a bit of a jumble and probably repeat previous posts. I can’t find any photos of the pin holes in the front panel above the headlights but I understand these were cut out and new metal grafted in - he drilled out the tiny holes and plug welded them.

This wing (near side) was too far gone and was replaced.

I’ve had a reply from the body shop”

”I’m giving all my secrets away here…😀 the system is Octoral 2k HS for primer and clearcoat. Colour is Octoral 2k solvent base coat.”

I said he was secrative. 😂

May 2021

At this point in the proceedings I nearly changed my mind on the colour. Thought she looked fantastic in black.

Underseal to inside the wings, wheel arches and new boot floor and a freshen up of the cabin. Doors, boot, bonnet and wings fitted and all gaps and alignment checked - all good. Wheel arch trims and front chin offered up - also all good.

June 2021

Last month KDF 831V received two black eyes and black around window reveals. I know the Hazel Bronze isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I love it 😁.

It is an absolute stunning job. I darent ask how much that’s costing. But I kind of wish I could afford it for my B series.

A lot more than it’s worth that’s for sure. I’m not planning on selling it so as long as I live until I’m 110 years old it will have been worth it.

This car has loads of quirks? Whats the back seat! With arm rest.

Leather is a brave choice! Cold in winter, sticky in summer, sliddy all the time, but really suits this car, its like a business spec manta will some sporty options! Opel should have done it!

love the car love the colour.

i must admit thou id be peeded off at the  bodyshop for removing any lead loading that your fabricator had applied.did they ask you first ,were they not happy with the shape or quality. aside from a traditional method leading is ( or should be ) totally waterproof and would stop any damp coming in from the back on any repairs. this is one of the main reasons why body repairs dont last as long as we hoped and as we know normal body filler is not waterproof .

years ago on a wing top with a couple of pinholes i drilled them clean, countersunk and then soldered one hole and body fillered the other. guess what .? the soldered hole is still invisible 15 years on .the other didnt last 1 year. !

End June 2021

Back home at last. I had to build a shed to store all the Manta parts so there was room to get her under cover.

The lead had been used to cover up all their mistakes - the profile and swage lines had been completely lost! See my previous post about employing “Professionals” (sorry I don’t know how to link it).

I agreed to removal of the lead and was pleased that the body shop brought the arches back from the dead - I thought they were lost forever.
